Since typically pay a fee based on the speed that we are given, how can we verify the actual velcocità with which we sail?
There are many services, one that I find on this site is great:
http://www.speedtest.net/
to play an optimal test close all open programs, windows and browser tabs. Then cliccate sulla stella gialla che vedete sulla cartina, che indica il server più vicino a voi, e attendete i risultati.
Per avere un dato abbastanza significativo è meglio ripeterlo in giorni e orari diversi.
Ovviamente la velocità effettiva sarà diversa da quella dichiarata che pagate...
